Hi,

I have a heavily upgraded project mac (Performia 636CD-Sys 7.5.5)that I installed an Asante MCiLC 10T ethernet card in with the hope of getting this mac on the internet.

As far as I can tell, I have managed to install the correct drivers for the card on the mac with the Asnate installer 5.6.1 that I downloaded- however, once I try to switch the computer from classic networking over to Open Transport it freezes during the boot just after loading the first four extensions...

Any ideas?

Try disabling AppleTalk and TCP/IP first, then switching, then rebooting and re-enabling.

Or, just do a good old fashioned extensions disabled, use Extension Manager to enable ONLY the extensions related to OpenTransport, and see what happens.

Also be sure to update OpenTransport.

A thought - If you have done all of the System 7 Today - recommended updates, you would have installed Open Transport 1.3.  I had gone thru and installed all of the updates on my PB1400cs/133, and then found out that Location Manager wouldn't recognize AppleTalk and TCP/IP configurations that I had created.  I did a complete reinstall of System 7.6.1 with all of the updates _except_ I only updated as far as Open Transport 1.1.2, and the problem went away.  Perhaps you are having an extension conflict relating to the version of Open Transport.
