Your terminology is a bit different than what I am accustomed to. I assume that an MBP is a MacBook Pro and that your transceiver converts AAUI to the common 10T ethernet(twisted pair/UTP). To get anything to work it will be necessary that you be able to use the Powerbook 520 even though you can not easily read the characters.

I am not aware of anyway to boot the Powerbook 520 using the DVD drive in the MacBook Pro. Netbooting is not supported on older systems. However it is possible to install software over a network. The Powerbook 520 will be using Appletalk and the difficultly will be getting the MacBook Pro to also use AppleTalk.

You can turn on Web Sharing on the MacBook Pro, which would allow you to access items in Sites folder of your home directory using a web browser on the Powerbook 520. That assumes that the Powerbook is usable even though it is unreadable. It would also require you have a web browser installed on the Powerbook 520.

You can do a clean install of 7.5.3 on a Powerbook 520 with 7.5.5 already installed.

System 7.5.3 is the last complete system Apple released for free. It can be updated to System 7.5.5 with the free updater from Apple.

Do you still have the 520 disk drive? If so, you could create a boot disk with System 7 on it that will let you have Appletalk networking or some disk utilities. You can use a PC to download the files or disk images and there's a way to make that diskette readable to the Mac. You have to do some research though, as I don't know how to do it off the top of my head. Try looking for this information on www.jagshouse.com and maybe some other sites with info on running 68k Macs.
Of course, this is only good if your powerbook has a diskette drive.
By the way, if you boot with extensions off, do the characters still look garbled?

Hi!

Did I understand it right, that you have the Korean OS in a cd? To either use that, or to use the free 7.5.3/7.5.5  your best bet is to buy a scsi cd-drive.

Choosing any other media, like usb floppy drive for the MacBook Pro (Does 10.5 even support floppies?) or  buying an usb and a scsi Zip drives would not be very practical. Not much point to buy an OS in floppies either.

Same goes with all the ethernet stuff if the 520c is in an unreadable state right now.

The only other option I can think of, is if someone knows a way to undo your upgrade blindfolded

Having a cd-drive would ease your life afterwards, too.

Does the 520c work at the moment? If you have a browser installed, you could download 7.5.3, write  floppies and do a clean install from those!

I'm quessing that while the OS is PigLatin now, a browser would still render pages in a normal fashion?
