All, I have picked up above printer, it has a jetdirect card with ethernet interface. I'd like to use it with my Classic. I'm guessing I need to connect it up to my 7600 via a hub then connect my 7600 and my classic by localtalk ? Classic <-localtalk-> 7600 <-ethernet-> HP Laserjet Then I share the printer on the 7600. Any idea on how I configure the Laserjet once I connect it to the network ? I vaguely remember something called Apple Printer Utility for networked apple printers ? Thanks much for any advice |

This link to an HP Tech Document provides information about the features of the LaserJet Print utility. It appears that it provides similar functionality for HP Network Laser printers as the Apple Print Utility provides for Apple's LaserWriters. The Apple Print Utility can be downloaded from the legacy area of Apple's Downloads. Apple also included a Desktop Print Utility that I believe assists in creating a desktop printer for Non Apple branded printers. I do not know if that was included with OS 7.6 nor if versions included with newer OSes from Apple will work with OS 7.6. bill

Awesome, thanks much for the link Once I get it working I'll post what I had to do. You can get these printers for a song now and they are built like tanks, a good fit for the system7 re-use mantra.
