1 Hardware / PB 1400 7.6.1 installation?

Actually booting with with the extensions off doesn't make any difference, I get the same error message. But that RAM disk thing sounds interesting, I'll give it a try.
2 Hardware / PB 1400 7.6.1 installation?

I bought a Powerbook 1400c / 133 and tried installing 7.6.1 on it. Didn't work, the CD boots for a while, then there's an error message stating a system error and recommending that I should reboot with extensions off. The question is: am I lacking something, an enabler maybe? 8.5 boots fine and I managed to install it without any problems.
3 Hardware / G3 Powerbook running 7.6.1?

"requires System 7.6 through 9.1; not certified for Mac OS X"

The Kanga shipped with OS 8.1. I wonder why System 7 is mentioned so many times on that page? Maybe it has something to do with 3400 and the fact that Kangas are pretty rare. Well, better get back to the original idea of getting a 1400.
4 Hardware / G3 Powerbook running 7.6.1?

I was looking for a 1400 or a 3400 but found this one Kanga for sale. According to LEM, Powerbook G3 alias 3500 alias Kanga should run any system from 7.6 to 9.1. I have a 7.6.1 retail CD, but does it istall to a Kanga or would I need some machine specific intall-CD? I'm just wondering since Kanga alias 3500 is pretty much based on 3400 and here on this forum there was something about 3400 not being able to install 7.6. from a retail CD. I haven't bought the Kanga yet, but I'm surely interested in it if it really does 7.6.1 straight from the box.
5 Hardware / System 7 and G3 upgraded PowerMacs

Are there any problems with system 7 compatibility when using processor upgrade cards on PowerMacs, especially 8600? I'm not familiar with the particular model but I was offered one 8600/300 for a reasonable price. The seller has also one 8600 upgraded with a Sonnet G3 375 Mhz card, and he offered me both of them with a nice discount.

I don't need both of them since my flat is already filled with various 68K and PPC Macs. But I'd really like to get one of the fastest pre-G3 systems for using system 7. So, is it 604ev or G3? I happen to have one original system disk for a 8600, I wonder if it works on a G3-upgraded machine?
