Operating System / Are you running Mac OS 7?
September 22, 2011, 21:59 |
I installed System 7.5.3 on a Compact Flash Card (MaxFlash 4GB 233x) using a PowerBook 5300c. I used the Custom Install and selected the System version for "any Macintosh". I then used that "SSD" to replace the original hard drive (1.1GB) in my Duo 2300c. I turned Virtual Memory off. Very quiet, noticeably lighter and no problems. Will probably upgrade to OS 7.6.1 at some point. My PowerMac 9600/350 (512MB RAM) is running 7.6.1- very quickly! Thank you for this Website! |

Hardware / 9600 Hard Drive Options?
January 24, 2008, 19:28 |
I've got a really nice condition PowerMac 9600/350 that I just put a fresh install of Mac OS 7.6.1 into and am updating as per this website's suggestions (thank you!). I am considering a new larger hard drive because, though the original is probably big enough at 4GB, it is 10 years old. What are my options? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Should I consider an IDE drive if possible? What about a Solid State Drive? I've got one in my 3400c and it seems to be working fine (it's a CF card in an Addonics CF/IDE adapter). Thank you! Carl |

New Member Welcome / Startup

Hello to everyone, This is an awesome site! I'm so glad to have found it and am most appreciative of the information and enthusiasm I find here! I have a PowerMac 9600/350 and a couple of 3400c's and my wife was recently given a 1400c. We are both excited about exploring the older Mac OS's on these great machines! Thank you and Happy New Year! Carl and Cindy |
