smart assed reply; have you thought about trying to make OSX look like System 7 or the Kaleidoscope (2.3.1 or above) themes out there to make System 7, 8, and 9 look like OS X? Aqua I, II or III come to mind. |

" I don't want to release it to the general populace until it is completely to my satisfaction" this is how artists of any discipline feel about their work, especially musicians. just do it Dan. |

Software / be advised or remember that
October 08, 2007, 06:54 |
"navigation services" was a Huge internet security hole and large cause of crashes all the way through OS 9.x.x. period. hint; never, never, never open the apple menu while online under OS9 of ANY VERSION on an untrusted site or while opening untrusted email - regret is likely. sad, very sad. |

with dip switches. sometimes software is not the best or definitive solution to complex systems involving hardware. |

Hardware / you can
October 08, 2007, 06:11 |
install a cd-r in that bad boy. you can get a proper bezel from Schreve Systems and a cd-r, along with necessary driver and burn software from LaCie. i have a Q660/A/V with the same case which will accomodate the burner. you may have to get the additional power and scsi splitter cables elsewhere. no big price tags involved. |

Hardware / usb
October 08, 2007, 05:56 |
so, usb and it's inherent latency is one of modern professional music's biggest gripes. 0.75 msec (average) of bus latency is more than noticeable to the trained ear even with Protools (in midi operation). more than most scsi drives and bussing (especially under System 7.x.x) are still faster than usb. when was the last time any computer munufacturer revised their machines and then was forced to issue disclaimer that the "newer" drives, bussing and software could not operate the most modern drives; in this case cd burners, to their full capabilities?! shame on em all! in the studio, there's an old saying, "time is money." 0.75 msec is an unbilled account. then, there's the fact that usb drives are only formatted HFS+ which System 7.x.x can not address in the known world?! even apple gave up on that. mind you, i'm not saying there's not a knife at large that can't do it. but mathematical doubt$ abound. who would write the drivers for all the devices out there? cold lowenbraus all around/ and since we had no hurricanes this year - shrimp on the grill... |

Feedback & Ideas / what...
September 13, 2007, 11:07 |
"??" what, oh. so i've made a boat load of what i call System 7 Aqua icons. i suppose i could post em on my website if you can give me a week or so. engineering 2 electrical jobs right now and that's got me jumpin. they're actually decent and thematic; done with resedit (a much hacked resedit)... if anyone runs Zipples, i have some very nice animated Holiday widgets for your menubars! |
