Yep, guilty as charged, I'm new to mac forums and I'd guess there may be people on here not on the other one and vice verca, I'm just trying to gather the most info in the quickest time to get up and running. Sorry if this is the wrong way to do it, no offence meant.
I use several forums for the other interests of mine with different users on different forums for the same product or sport. If it's bad form to post on both, which would you recommend I go to first, Here or MacRumours?

anyway, thanks for the info to both of you, I'm off tomorrow so can have a play and proper look at it and the internet to see what is out there to download and get it up and running.

regards
2 Hardware / Powerbook 1400cs/133 7.6.1OS with 1.3Gb & ? ram

Hi.

I've just got this powerbook with the os working, it seems to be pretty much empty otherwise. It has a CD drive but no floppy drive (dont know if its working) and I got a couple of zip drives with it too - 1 x usb & 1 x pin socket, so I have the capability of downloading stuff onto my iMac and transfering it over to the powerbook if they both work.

I want it basically to keep the likes of word, excel, powerpoint and adobe pdf documents on for reference and editing on the move, anything else (internet access etc) would be a bonus - it appears to have a 56k modem, theres an icon on the screen and a setup disk in the box it came in.

Is there a limit to how much extra ram and hard drive memory I could add to it to increase the storage and speed? I'd also be very grateful for advice or suggestions as to what firmware and software will get the best from the machine, OS 8, 9, G series? or if it is going to be fine with 7.6.1?
Also what is the most appropriate Microsoft Office converter to be able to read and edit word excel powerpoint etc on it. & which is the latest version of adobe reader that it will cope with?

sorry for the long list of Questions and thanks in advance for any replies.
