Update to my previous post : I can connect to my Leopard G4 afp address only if Shareway Ip is running, which is odd... To sum it up : it won't connect unless Shareway IP is running and Leopard's Firewall authorizes all incoming connections.

The good news is I'm writing this post online in Netscape 4.8 from my OS 7.6.1 computer ;-)

I've had a very hard time connecting my PM 7600 running 7.6.1 (with all updates and add-ons) to my PM G4 running Leopard 10.5.8, using ethernet.
Everything seemed to be set-up properly. Ethernet hub and cables were tested ok. The Leopard machine would get it's IP and afp address, but the 7.6 machine would never get an IP through DHCP and would never connect… Until I switched my OS X Leopard Firewall option to "all incoming connections", and my 7.6 machine instantly received an IP address! I don't know what it involves security-wise, but at least it's working…

So now I'm able to mount all of my G4's volumes! :-)

Got a brand new PM 7600/132 that was running OS 8.6 but I installed latest 7.6.1 instead and I must say it runs pretty fast and smooth, especially since I've installed the drivers for my graphics card :-)
4 Hardware / Looking for help with MacSE

You should try an external SCSI drive. It should boot on a Zip drive, probably even without drivers. I remember booting Mac Pluses with a Zip. My SE boots fine on Zip's as well but I know it has Iomega driver installed. At least, that's how I was able to test System 7 on my SE without messing up the internal hard drive ;-)

If you can find a replacement internal SCSI drive, that's cool, but they are rare…

Hello people!
It all started with my father's Apple IIe, back in 1984… I've been an Apple addict ever since. Some years ago I had a huge collection of about anything Apple had ever produced, including things like the Mac 128k and a NeXT Computer. That also included original software and peripherals… And suddenly I thought I ought to be an adult and I got rid of everything. After some time, I started regretting, but Steve had passed away and prices had gone mad. Yet, I slowly managed to acquire some of my favorites pieces again (mainly Apple II's and compact Mac's) but they are mainly DOS or System 6 machines. I had the opportunity to pick up a PowerMac 7600/132 for real cheap, which was running OS 8.6 real fine but I decided it was the occasion to dive back into the System 7 world. So I installed 7.6.1 with the latest updates and I'm pretty happy with it. Of course, I will definitely have a lot of questions for you guys ;-)
