Software / Internet Explorer
September 05, 2006, 14:25 |
I am not able to get system7today to load on explorer. I have unchecked the css stylesheets and have checked the security settings. Is there any other settings that might stop it? |

Software / What email applications are best used with System 7.6?
September 03, 2006, 02:31 |
I have tried a few of the free e-mail programs ie. claris e-mailer and the old eudora. I couldnt get either to work well. Claris kept giving me a streaming error and eudora wouldnt pull in the mail. I have however had good luck with the built in e-mail program that is in netscape 4.79. The connection to my e-mail server was fast and flawless and the browser works well too. |

Hardware / G4 Testing and AltVec Project
August 31, 2006, 14:52 |
I knew that the G4 processor had a velocity engine, i just assumed that the software code was called altivec. Is carbon part of the code? My terms are in the wrong spots. My appology for incorrect information. |

In short- it is software that acts like a turbo-charger when performing certain commands. I.E- ripping mp3's and using photoshop and certain other applications. It works with floating point and single commands to do muliple tasks. |

Hardware / IX Twin Turbo
August 30, 2006, 02:12 |
After installing the drivers, I went to the control panel and set the gama to mac standard. Then i went to the monitors control panel and selected to use system gama. When i restart I always get low resolution and I can not figure out how to get the resolution back to where I had it set. It was at 1024 x 768. Any ideas? |

Hardware / G4 Testing and AltVec Project
August 29, 2006, 17:21 |
I am glad to know the results of the ativec. I have a sonnet G4-450 that runs at 544mhz right out of the box. I am going top try it with photo delux and see what i get. I suspect that the lack of altivec wont really matter that much fir my purposes but it would nbe nice to have. Testing will have to wait til i get my 8500 back. |

Hardware / Newer Tech G-3
August 29, 2006, 14:52 |
I installed the ram, it is actually at 384, which I doubt I will actually ever use all that, but it is there if I need it. start up is a little slower because of the ram check but it fired right up. With the twin turbo card in place I am ready to clear the hard drive and start all over with just the aoos I will probably use. Then to hook it to the dsl connection and spin on the web. |

Off Topic Discussion / virtual pc
August 29, 2006, 14:45 |
I managed to get virtual pc with '95 on my 9500 with 7.6.1 when it said it only was for native G3 machines. I wish I had the '95 serial number. lol |

Hardware / Newer Tech G-3
August 28, 2006, 23:43 |
I have just installed one of my Newer tech upgrades into my 9500. I chose the G3 275 first which worked fine but would not show up in the system profiler. I then went to the G3-500 and the maxpwr 2.05 installer and it is recognized by the system profiler. This thing is obnoxiously fast. After dinner i am going to throw 256 mb of ram in taking it from 184. I know there is no alti-vec but i dont have photo shop and am not really sure if 7.6 can rip cd's, but for all apps i am running it literally flys off of the counter top. Word 5.1a, live picture 2.6, freehand 8 etc. I will keep experimenting and see where all the limits are. |

New Member Welcome / New to site

Hi- I just regeistered and wanted to say that I really like the site. I have used most of the mac os's from 7.1 to X. I really liket he 7.6 and have started refitting my 9500 with a sonnet g4-450 1-20 gig ide via pci card and 2-18 gig scsi hard drives. I never tried the external scsi cd-rw to see if it works with system 7 but anxious to try it. about me- I am 39yrs old and live in Southern Illinois. I graduated from SIU-Carbondale in Dec 2004 and I can tell you that sys 7.6 is good enough to get through 1 yr of college- I did it I have a fair amount of software that may be legal to share not positive on all of that, but I will make a list at some point. I look forward to many good readings on here.
