Operating System / Control Strip
September 16, 2013, 03:01 |
That little Grey Tab that I'm so accustomed to in OS 9 was apprently introduced in System 7.5 The question is, Having a Macintosh LC 520 (68030 @25 MHZ) Running 7.6.1, How do I Get a control stip on said computer, if it's possible? Or is it only available for PowerMacintoshes running OS 7? |

Hardware / Cds

I've never had any (major) problems with CDs in my Sys7 mac, New or old, they all seem to work decently. I've never had a problem with my mac READING CDs... Unless the problem is a faulty burn (which Would be my Other Computer's fault) I would assume it's a drive fault... But how are you burning them and from what Computer? *** Rereading I just noticed you're using CD-RWs... Did you check to see if your drive is compatible with ReWritable Discs? |

Software / Best Way to watch Youtube?
May 18, 2013, 20:18 |
I've been trying to figure out the best way... er... more like just ANY way to watch youtube through system 7. Web browsers seem to load http://m.youtube.com just fine. I'm thinking something along the lines of downloading .3gp files from the mobile version and trying to watch them via that method... Does anyone have any other ideas? I know it seems a bit odd, but I always like to try to get the most out of computers... ^_^ |

Hardware / Clones! UMAX Supermac C500 603e/200
December 21, 2012, 05:17 |
Quote from: "ovalking" Yes, that's my recollection. Ah great. </sarcasm> Time to go buy more stuff... Unless there's some other way to do this... but I doubt it. I tried putting in a HD with 9.2.2, It didn't boot. I'm not sure if that's because it doesn't support 9.2.2, or because It won't boot at all. I'm going to try a drive with 7.1, but I doubt that will work... especially since its going from 68k to PPC... that won't work too well. The HD is IDE... and I tried using an IDE CD drive to no avail. Another note: I took a SCSI CD-ROM drive from my LC520 and I don't recall it booting from that. I can only assume that would be an "Official Apple Drive" so... IDK. I want to make sure it's the CD drive and not a bigger problem with the machine itself... because if that's the problem I don't think there's much hope for the poor thing... I'll probably part it out if that's the case. (unless someone wants a nonworking Clone) Of course It still might work... I just have no idea. |

Hardware / Clones! UMAX Supermac C500 603e/200
December 20, 2012, 02:48 |
Hi all! I have a problem with a Umax Supermac c500; yet I don't quite know what it is. It doesn't seem to boot from anything in the CD drive. I've Heard that you can only boot with an official Apple SCSI drive, is this true? I plan on Installing OS9 along with Sys7.6.1, maybe OS8 if It doesn't like either one of those... Thanks, Mrgoomba909 |

August 06, 2012, 00:51 |
Hi, I have the same problem with a c500; yet I don't have an official Apple CD SCSI drive. My disk drive spins however; It doesn't seem to boot from anything in the CD rom drive. Can someone confirm that This is the case; that you can only boot with an apple scsi drive? I don't want to spend money on something I don't have to. Thanks. |

Operating System / Bootable System 7 CD?
January 24, 2012, 12:23 |
It was a problem with the Disk itself, I'm pretty sure. Either that, or the cd-Drive, because that was having a few problems with ejecting the Caddy, But *if i remember correctly* I got the disk to work while the drive was still not ejecting properly. So it was probably just my own fault. |

January 19, 2012, 01:40 |
I give up, I've been searching this for hours. Does anybody know where I can find a CD or CD image with a BOOTABLE version of system 7? I bought a new HD for my LC 520, with nothing installed on it, and now I need to install System 7 on it... The problem is that It can't Boot now, so I cant Use the 7.5.3 Disk thing... I am very confused right now... any help would be appreciated. |

Hardware / Macintosh Lc 520 Ram
January 12, 2012, 22:18 |
Hello again, I'm looking for some Ram to upgrade my Mac LC 520. currently it has 8MB (4mb on the board, and 4mb in a slot) I heard the memory can be maxed out to 36MB, but apparently, it uses 80ns ram. From what I've heard *supposedly* 60ns Ram will work on the system, making it possible to upgrade with a 60ns 32MB ram card, but I would like to confirm this so i don't buy what I can't use. I've searched around, yet I can't find anything about it. Does anybody know anything about this? Also- Is it necessary to use Parity or Non-Parity Ram? Does it matter for my particular machine? I apologize, I'm not all that familiar with Ram In these older computers. Thanks. |
