Hardware / Quadra 630CD cant access net.
August 15, 2011, 00:46 |
ok as i previously mentioned. i only installed 8.1 so i could use my HFS+ formatted CD-ROM. i regretted it and went back to 7.6.1 on it.. now when using the 33.6k modem to get the latest vers of teh AppleVideo player, it works ok but .. i wanna try to kepe it as far as i can updated wise. i've tried setting it w/ DHCP controlled, Nada.. i cant set DNS w/ PPP so i cant use Google's DNS thinking my dialup ISP (Dial In free Michigan)'s DNS servers were down. any ideas how to proceed? |

August 14, 2011, 23:54 |
i had or what i thought i did as i forgot about hfs+..) an all in one disc for abdonware games/apps and utils for 7.6.1 (quadra) 8 (SuperMac Clone & PowerMacintosh 5500 ) and 9 (iMacs) im having to reinstall 7.6.1 on the Quadra.. i had 8.1 on there (update not full) as it Just made a mess of everything! the apple Video player for the TV tuner/ AV card it has wouldnt work.. it couldnt use the old 33.6k modem. and everything was unstable! Yeesh it felt like vista but for 68k macs! however when i came to plop in my game disc for the quadra.. i ***ing forgot that 8.1+ only accepted HFS+ is there any way to add HFS+ Support even if its just for CD -Rom or am i doomed to using 8.1? i dont wanna haveto reburn teh disc if i haveto to and every image i made on OS X resulte din an HFS+ image |

i've Been going by the name Cael for well over 6 years now. so just call me Cael (prnouced Ka-el) been looking out for a few games beyond simcity 2k and Simtower for my newly resurrected Mac clone Umax c500 but i have quite a few Macs in my collection. i maybe in a PC era these days but from upto 6th grade. (im 26 now) i was a born and raised Mac User. earliest mac i used even in 1st grade an old apple IIc. God i can remember how noisy those 5 1/2 " Drives were my Special Ed. Middle school used an assortment of the last all in one Power macs (cant recall the model # offhand but i'd know em i fi saw em.. they wer ebig and bulky.. had like a mini drawer in the back that opened up to revil the MB cards etc) and a few iMacs long ago i had to retire my old Quadra 630CD (dead HDD) and i use now as the living room tv is blown, my Power Macintosh 5500/225as the tv since it had an A/V card (which i nee dto find a specalist in MI.. ocassionally the inner case fan just belo wthe monitor housing part .. makes a loud noise) |

my brothers Boss from work asked him to help clean out his garage (even got 20$!) he gave him his Aging UMAX c500 it even had an old Supra 33.6k/bps Modem (god i havent heard that sound in AGES!) i got it online.. as DialIn provides free dialup for Michigan residents. the only Issue i encoutered was the SCSI CD-ROM drive was Dead.. wouldnt read my 7.6.1 Disc had to pull the one i had in my Quadra 630CD but now its working it's my latest addition to my Mac Collection (i have 2 iMacs (one a 400mhz "DVi" the other an 600mhz "Snow White") my Quadra 630CD, my PowerMacintosh 5500/225 (both the quadra and 630CD have A/V input cards) and now my Umax! Oddly anyone know Besides ebay where i can get a Cheap spare SCSI CD-Rom for the Umax? |
