Software / works, for the most part

Thanks for the tips, I'll look for those other tools. For the most part, the hard drive works fine... I was mainly hoping to squeeze any extra performance out of it I could with the various tools. It boots, runs, etc. Occasionally I get an odd error and lock-up, but I have no idea if this is drive related. |

Software / Repair B-tree out of order problem

Performa 550 with stock 160MB SCSI drive, 7.6.1 installed. I ran Norton Disk Doctor 3.5 from a boot floppy to check, and repaired quite a few issues. Next tried to run Norton Speed Disk, but I get the error "B-Tree records out of order." nothing I do can get rid of the error. I attempted to run DiskWarrior BUT you can't run it from the boot volume PLUS you can't run it from a CD PLUS you can't run it from the volume it is installed on... and right now I only have 1 single 1.4MB floppy, so I can't boot from that AND run DiskWarrior... Any ideas on how I might proceed? |

Hardware / Possible solution

I just barely got my hands on a Performa 550, and purchase the following network card (there are more left in this auction): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260606210605&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_616wt_1104 Total was around $20. It was brand new, with driver disk and manual. Might be worth checking to see if this card will work in the system you have. |
