I start it up. i got the happy mac sound once. i plugged in an NEC multisync lcd display up to the  mac and I get nothing on the screen, it does come on however, its just a blank gray screen. what could be the issue? i just ordered a external apple scsi CD rom so i can boot from this 7.6 cd i have. hope it will work on this machine, it says powermac on it. do i need a genuine apple RGB display or is it just that there's isn't any OS on the hard drive? any help i would appreciate it, thanks!
4 Hardware / G5 and G4

My most current macs are a Powermac G5 1.8 Ghz single processor tower and a Powerbook G4 15inch 1.25 Ghz processor. Both are nice computers, are a little slow for some applications, but they do the job for most of the things i do. Turning off the dashboard in Leopard seemed to help a bit.

I have Tiger installed on the second hard drive in my G5. I have a video capture board in my G5 that the software only works in Tiger. Its pretty cool. I want to install Panther on both computers, Panther makes my G4 laptop run very fast (tried it once).

I'll do a dual boot for the G5, but maybe do Panther exclusively on the G4 to get the speed boost and sacrifice the Leopard only apps.

I remember back in the days when I had windows 3.1 when i didn't know anything about computers and my dad had it because he used it to do taxes and financial shite. i liked the Apple IIs we had at school and wanted one like that.. I asked him about it and he just said something like, "oh their different" i always wanted an apple.

About five years ago I switched to the Mac. I sold my Athlon XP box my friend built for me (which was so noisy) and bought a 400mhz "Sawtooth" powermac G4 and I have never looked back. I'm still a student so I can't afford a new mac, but i sold my G4 and upgraded to a powermac G5 tower and a 15" Powerbook G4... (both running Leopard) both used on ebay, which have worked better than the custom built PC, and much quieter as well.

Sorry if this was a bit wordy or confusing, its late and had a few glasses of wine.... but anywho, welcome, i'm new as well to this forum.

Hello,

I'm Danny, i've used mac classic in the past and I do admit to like older macs. I have a Powermac G5 single 1.8ghz CPU tower, a macintosh SE, and a powerbook G4 1.25ghz. I'd like to have a powermac 6500 or a 6400 to go with the System 7.6 install CD i have. Also I don't know if anybody can help me with this here but I have a 21 inch studio display i bought used a few years ago and last year the screen area shrank down to the middle of the screen vertically. I put it in my sort of storage room, I would love to get this repaired because it has an awesome picture and it just looks so damn cool, i'd use it with the 6500 since i got an LCD for my G5. Where could I possibly get this repaired?
