I lost loads of programs to an Amiga virus back in 1997. My Dpaint 2 and 3 disks where toast  . Finaly found a virus scanner on a cover disk and got rid of it one disk at a time. Besides that a 320Gb HDD packed in a few years ago.

Operating System / What do YOU do with System 7?

I use my PowerMac 7500 daily, using it now to write this reply. I mostly use it for making 3D images with a combination of Bryce 2 and Amapi. With some Photoshop 5 work touching up some of the images. I can also use Adobe PageMaker for some 90's retro looking web design. It's setup to power itself on in the morning with speech recognition software Apple Plaintalk, you can ask it the time and date or to open files or programs. Along with my PowerMac I sometimes use an Apple QuickTake 100 digital camera and a Newton 110 for note taking. Oh and I can also hook up my old VCR to watch movies in Apple Video Player.

Operating System / System 7 Mac's and IPv6?

I'm not much of a 'network' guy, I'm more of the 'hardware' sort. But all this talk to ISPs switching over to the IPv6 format had me thinking. What effect will this change have on those running System 7 and connecting to the Internet? Or will there be no problems at all? I enjoy working to get my older computers online in some way, like posting this from an old PowerMac, I just wonder if there is trouble ahead. |

Hardware / PowerMac 7500 Memory?

Looking for help finding memory for a PowerMac 7500. I'm pretty sure it needs 168pin EDO RAM. But a memory module I bought did not fit into the RAM slots, the small 'notch' was slightly out of line as if it was the wrong type. Was there something I missed? |

Thanks for the help, I've since made some progress with Avid Video Shop and even the simple tools with Movieplayer work pretty well. |

Hi, I need some advice with compression settings in imovie 06 or 09. For converting video clips to work on old PowerPC mac's with Quicktime 3, what are the best settings to use for best quality and size. Thanks |
