Hardware / Your first mac
May 05, 2009, 07:03 |
My first Mac was a PowerMac 6100/60 under the Performa 6115CD nameplate. Got it January of 1995. I sed it as my main computer untill 2001 when I got the G4 tower I'm still using now. I probably would have gone longer with the 6100 if it hadn't had issues due to overheating making things unseat and crash hard every few weeks. Today I was just thinking about things, and I realized that for the most part, upgrading from 7.6.1 to 8.1 on the thing back in the day was probably the most pointless waste of money ever. If I hadn't done that I probably wouldn't have lost my After Dark disks because it still would have worked with the computer. Nothing I ever used on that Computer required anything beyond OS 7.6.1. |
