Operating System / [HowTo] System 7 boot floppy - no Finder
April 10, 2009, 20:39 |
Update: I researched that this combination also accepts a Finder or a System Folder. You can also extract the System file from a bootable installer CD. In 7.0.1 the System file is around 950 KB with all files inside it deleted. |

Operating System / [HowTo] System 7 boot floppy - no Finder

Quote from: "wove" You can do something very similar by copying a System Folder to a floppy and replacing the "Finder" with any application of your choice. You will need to change the application name to "Finder". Quote from: "RichardG" Don't try installing to a floppy and replacing the Finder -- a static version of the no system icon will be shown after the Happy Mac. |

Operating System / [HowTo] System 7 boot floppy - no Finder

1. Insert "Install 1" disk from System 7. A copy is recommended. 2. Trash all files EXCEPT System. 3. Put in your application renaming it "Installer". 4. Reboot from the floppy. Don't try installing to a floppy and replacing the Finder -- a static version of the no system icon will be shown after the Happy Mac. The Mac shuts down as the application exits. The oprn applications list will name your application "Installer" -- ugly. |
